Safety

A place worth trusting.

Circin is used by curious people of all ages, including students. Safety isn't a settings page — it's built into how the product works.

Built in, not bolted on

Report anything. Every video, comment, and profile has a report option. Every report is recorded and grouped into a case against whatever it names — nothing filed is discarded — and content that breaks the Community Guidelines is removed.

What happens to a report Anyone can file a report without an account. The report is recorded and never edited. It joins the one case for the thing it names, which becomes high priority at three reports, or at the first when the reason is an urgent one such as child safety. Only the owner account can record a decision, and closing a case needs a written reason. The reporter sees a status in their own history. A report never removes anything by itself. ANYONE Files a report no account needed THE REPORT Recorded, never edited one person’s signal about one thing THE CASE One case per thing reported high priority at 3, or 1 if urgent A PERSON Decides; closing needs a reason only the owner account can THE REPORTER Sees a status in their history NEVER Auto-removal a person removes Example: 3 reports on 1 video = 1 case
DrawnA report becomes part of a case, and a case waits for a person. Nothing is removed by a count of reports; removing is a separate act a person chooses, and the case keeps the reason. The server accepts a decision from one configured owner account and refuses everyone else, so a case can only move as fast as that one person reads. A drawing of the path, not a screenshot.

Block anyone. A block works both ways and Circin keeps it: neither of you can comment on the other’s videos, reply, like or follow, and nothing either of you writes reaches the other’s Inbox. Their videos stay up, and Circin never tells them they were blocked. Blocking is not reporting — report anything that needs a person to look at it.

How a block is kept Blocking someone from an account is kept by Circin, not by one phone. Every comment, reply, like on a comment, or follow between two accounts first asks whether a block exists in either direction. If one does, the action is refused with a plain answer and no reason; if not, it goes through. The blocked account is never told and has no way to look it up. WITH AN ACCOUNT You block someone the block is kept by Circin ASKED EVERY TIME Is there a block, either way? checked on the server, not the phone A BLOCK Refused no reason given NO BLOCK Goes through as usual NEVER SENT Who blocked whom no notice, and no way to look it up Example: a comment, a reply, a follow
DrawnThe same question is asked in both directions, so the wall holds whichever side put it up. The refusal reads the same either way, and notices between the two are dropped before an Inbox. What a block does not do: it takes no video down, and it never stands in the way of a report. A block made without an account only hides things on that phone. A drawing of the rule, not a screenshot.

Age-appropriate. Creating an account requires a minimum age, and content is held to a general-audience standard. Publishing is not gated on a prior review: a video goes live when its creator publishes it, and review happens after — before it can reach Circin Kids, and on report. A creator marks work as sensitive at publish, and anything a reviewer removes stays down, held rather than live if it is published again.

Corrections stay visible. When information changes or a creator corrects a mistake, the update stays attached to the original video.

Appeals. If your content is removed, you'll be told why, and you can appeal.

Circin Kids (under 13)

Accounts are for people 13 and older. Under 13, Circin Kids runs on a kid profile kept only on that phone — a first name, a @username, an optional parent email, and the kid’s ratings, collections, recent searches and three days of watch history — behind a parent PIN; kid profiles never sync. A video someone uploads to Circin cannot appear in Kids until a person has approved it for under-13. Circin’s own sample library — which is what a child sees today, since no outside creator has published yet — is admitted by a rule on Subject and subcategory rather than by a person; the Admin queue tracks how many of those a person has actually decided, and a person’s decision always overrides the rule. Comments, messages and creating are off; a video’s source links open only with the parent PIN, and leaving Kids mode needs the 4-digit PIN a parent sets when it starts. Parents can read exactly what Kids mode does in the app under Kids → How Kids mode works.

What a kid profile keeps on the phone A kid profile keeps its name and username, ratings, collections, recent searches, three days of watch history and the parent PIN on the phone only. At the phone's edge, syncing a kid profile is refused by the server and the app never attempts it. The one exception is a PIN reset code mailed to a parent email, and only when a parent asks for it. ON THE PHONE ONLY Name, username Ratings Collections Searches 3-day history Parent PIN THE PHONE’S EDGE REFUSED Profile sync never even tried ONLY IF ASKED PIN reset code to a parent email Example: a rating stays on that phone
DrawnA kid profile lives on one phone and nowhere else. The app does not send it, and the server refuses one if it ever arrived. The one thing the app sends is a reset code, along with the parent email it is going to, only when a parent asks; the PIN itself stays put, and that email waits on a mail provider being set up on the server. The cost is real too: a lost or reset phone takes the profile with it. A drawing of the boundary, not a screenshot.

Child safety standards

Circin prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation absolutely. We do not permit — and act against — child sexual abuse material, grooming, sexual exploitation of minors, sextortion, or trafficking, in any form, anywhere on the platform.

Every report option includes a child-safety route. A child-safety report is flagged as such and carried through with its reason attached. Its case is high priority from the first report, so it sorts above cases that are waiting on a count. It still waits for one person to read it, so the route to the contact below is the fast path, and it is read by a person. Where the law requires it, confirmed material is reported to the appropriate authorities through our established safety process.

Designated child-safety contact: circinofficial@gmail.com (subject: "Child safety").
